Just my personal opinion - get a mentor or a person who already has good experience running STR business, preferably in your area (but not 100% required). 

I view it as if I have a wholesaling mentor who would give me the time to sit down and mentor me, shouldn't that be good too?

After my initial email contact with my mentor I wrote out a list of questions for our phone call and we worked our way through them during our call.

My closing advice is that you connect with a local agent or mentor who also invests in the neighborhoods you are considering.
