I don't know where to start or how to put my foot in the door...

Hi all. I'm a 23 year old looking to get into real estate & I come on here because I just don't know where to start. 

Some background on me - I went to college with a degree I thought I was gonna use, thought I wanted to apply to PT school, but soon after I graduated I had a massive change of heart and decided that I no longer wanted to pursue that route anymore because I felt my future was so much brighter than to be stuck working day and night in that kind of profession. My sister and her partner own their own Wholesale RE business and they have taught me a lot about what they do and just truly opening my eyes and made me realize that I also want to do the same. I've started cold-calling, Driving For Dollars, etc. I just feel kind of lost still because I work a 9-5 job that I don't enjoy and am no longer learning in and would rather use that time learning more about real estate investing, etc. On the other hand, that 9-5 brings me income.

If you made it this far in reading, I hope my thoughts are able to find any kind of guidance, or perhaps a mentor. I'm sure someone on here has been in my shoes, right? I really want to dive deep into real estate and be a learner & just soak up knowledge. I am trying to find real estate meetups for beginners here in the DFW area but don't know if I'm looking in the wrong places. 

Again, I am literally a beginner - no properties under my name, no portfolio (yet), still working a W2 job, just looking for DIRECTION and for someone to possibly help me in what step to go in next. I've been thinking I want to work for real estate investors in whatever capacity if I can be trained and also learn at the same time, or work somewhere that would still allow me to have an income while I'm learning at the job within the real estate environment.... does this sound like a good idea?

At 23, your unfair advantage is time that is not constrained by collecting commitments of a family. Work the 9-5 and go earn/learn after hours. I was in your spot at 23, took a chance, and started a business. It ultimately failed, so I started another one that also failed - ending with a partner than ran out of and stole money. I then started another one that worked out. Throughout this entire time, I waited tables and bartended at night to pay rent. That was my 20s...Spinning my wheels, working ALL of the time, and living off of nothing. If it wasn't housing, food, or transportation, I didn't spend money on it. 

I'm now in my 40s and financially independent living off of real estate and index funds. I kind of traded my 20s for the freedom of not working that started at 41. It was harder than I thought it was going to be and took longer than I thought it was going to take. You're probably 24-48 months of focused effort away from changing your financial future.
