The tallest building in the world at a staggering 2,715 feet is Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the most popular tourist attraction in the Middle East.

Certainly, STRs will ebb and flow in tenant occupancy but I have to wonder if the STR market, outside of well defined tourist destinations, could be in trouble.

If the area is going to remain a popular tourist area and desirable to the people who live there, the price will probably go up and you can refinance and take some money out to get another property.

Prices are much higher now, but it’s fundamentally still a great place to own real estate in my opinion with low taxes, population growth, lots of major companies/universities/state gov offices there, tourist destination, etc I would lookup REIN - they have a Facebook group and local meetups.

That way you can come up with an expected income that accounts for how confident you feel about whether or not your property can be better than or equal to the comps in your area.If there aren't a lot of comps, I would do a quick google search for annual tourist numbers in Piney Point, MD.

A STR on the beach or close to tourist attractions should outperform a similar place not close to anything.Search on Vrbo and Airbnb to check occupancy and rates to find the best areas for higher returns.

Property prices are super low in most of the country but they can be expensive in touristic cities like Venice, Rome or Florence but these are the places where you can get the income to make your investment profitable.

A STR in a geographically restricted tourist area is not in the same market as an STR in a major metro area or an STR in a rural area with plenty of room for development.

For example, if you're looking to attract tourists, consider properties near popular tourist destinations such as casinos, ski resorts, or water parks.
