Any international investors - is it the same?
Has anyone invested in Italy? If so, how does it compare to buying in the US?
I have some co-workers that are discussing buying in Italy. I'm in the process of finding out how to acquire and Airbnb a single family home.

It depends on what you are wanting out of an investment in Italy. There are definitely opportunities, but as others have noted property prices have been decreasing in most areas. Italy has had a decreasing population problem so traditional investing is not something I would look at, however vacation rentals and/or luxury rehabs sold to people looking for luxury vacation or retirement properties are something of interest. Prime areas like the Lakes district in the north, Tuscany, Amalfi, etc.. will always have significant tourism so property values should be safe.
