For me, it was a miserable time. 

The 401K would provide a miserable retirement and medicare may not be there for me. 

It was the most miserable 9 months of home ownership.

I see no reason for people to live like a miser, eating cat food and keeping the hosue at 50 degrees in the winter while having millions in the bank!

It would have been a miserable, long relationship that you couldn't end.  

If you are truly miserable living at that house you should be looking for another place to live whether you come to an agreement with the landlord or not.

If there rent is very low money will not likely get them out.Make their tenancy miserable and hope they leave on their own.

I'd leave it alone.The thing is, if a tenant really wants out of a lease, they will move or they will make your life miserable until you let them move.  

I know we don't have that many days of heat in the summer, but the humidity makes it very miserable to sleep at night and they have kids.If they we not good tenants, I would not even consider A/C or extending the lease.

In retrospect, only the F.M. was a threat to the closing as you NEVER want to P*&% off a City official with the power to make your life miserable.
