Even with growing competition there are tons of gems waiting for investors. 

I had driven past this property for months...it was empty in a good neighborhood and I thought what a waste of a hidden gem-it was a nice simple ranch on a large lot.

Any insight or tips on tracking down one of these gems.

There have been other little gems that have cropped up, courtesy of the bank.

I think Spokane is one of those hidden gems (for now at least)! 

House hack on an FHA for primary residence and you only need about 3%-4% down these days, so in the abq market if you hustle you can find gems around $100k or less if they need work and that’s pretty much your first property right there.

They may have a secondary auction or it may be first come first served to buy OTC properties.Be warned no one wanted these properties at the auction so you will have to look through a bunch of garbage to find a possible gem.

Copeland Check out loopnet as well, sometimes there are some gems that get listed commercially rather than on the residential MLS. 

The main thing is you have modern avionics and a plane with no rivets so they are so much faster than the other vintage aircraft that are still 40s and 50s technology. 

I'd advise you to focus on similar comps, meaning, properties within 1-3 miles radius and of similar vintage (5 years above/below the target property vintage).
