I'm in CA and I occasionally have a housemate (renting a bedroom w/ full house privileges in my home; single person only).

But I'm at the point where I believe voting should be an earned privilege and not a right.

While a decent home is still a privilege and not a right, many people have not let go of this utopian vision.

Your privilege and not an uncommon action here. 

But I’m not going to pay for the privilege of improving the park.

On top of the weekend class to "really" learn a thing or two instead of wasting your valuable time like at the meeting I was attending, they then were pitching their exclusive next tier program where you and 15-or-so others could have the distinct "privilege" of having breakfast/brunch with them and be able to talk with them for the low price of $500...THEN there was their "top dog" program where you and a select few could have the great honor of becoming their  padawan after you took out a 2nd mortgage on you or your parents house to pay $50k for that honor.

When I recently acquired a few adjacent plexes, they 'let them into the commercial portfolio pool', the privileged land of high replacements, $2M liability and loss of income coverages. 

Things like they don't take any extra fees for the privilege of being in the fund!

I am a contractor and have the privilege of cleaning up an absolute mess he made of a flip job in Northampton County.  

Allentown has a per rental registration fee of $75, a $35 permit fee and off the top of my head .0035 x rental revenue business privilege tax.
