In DFW what is your favorite REIA or Investor Meet-up?

Question

I have been to 5 different groups over the past 4 months. Some are there to allow people to sell their "educational" products and other are more information based. I am a big fan of the networking and information based meets up.

What are you favorite groups and why?

Best REI Newtwork - They are strictly education and networking. If someone is speaking, they are allowed to talk about their product but must also give free advice and what someone could do if they wanted to mimic the product but don't have the money to buy the service being offered.

West DFW REI Group - They do invite the gurus to come talk but are a smaller group located right where I am doing most of my work. It is great for networking.

@Michael Liebrum thanks for researching this topic.  Here's the ones I would recommend:

Real Estate Groups

Several of these will have similar names but they are different.  And these are the groups that I feel comfortable recommending.  Several groups in DFW will try very hard to sell you things if you attend.  Some are like $20,000.  These are not that.

DFW REI Club
– www.dfwreiclub.com
– meet about 50 times per year.  Lots of different topics and a very friendly group.

DFW Mid Cities REIA - https://dfwmidcitiesreia.com/ - meets each month and is completely free.  Usually free food and free drinks.

DFW REI Network Investing Meetup - https://www.meetup.com/DFW-REI-Network-Investing-Meetup/ - Started in Bigger Pockets this group meets once per month.  Just straight information and super friendly atmosphere.

AREA Real Estate Investing Group – https://www.meetup.com/realestate-445/ - Meets once per month and is usually well attended

I'm not really a go-to-meetings guy, but the Propelio meetup and the Roddy Roundup (which they renamed a couple years ago, and I don't remember what it is now) are the best ones I've visited, and that friends who are more group-oriented like.

It doesn't look like you're a member of the DFW Real Estate Investment Facebook group. That's a very valuable place for local information, and often discussion of the various networking group meetings as well. There are several other good FB groups focused on DFW as well, but that's probably the best, most active, one.

@Michael Kolaghassi We should team up and go back to the DFW REIA and then separately walk out when they make it obvious it is a sales pitch.

I really highly suggest you go to DFW REI Network (this is the link to their meet-up). I am not sure if I can make it to the meeting this month but it is every second Thursday of the month in Hurst and has a strict education policy. The lady speaking at this month's is a super fun insurance lady.  It is based mostly on a Q&A basis and has free food (no recommendation needed). And just for full disclosure, I have no affiliation with the group other than the lady that runs it is a broker and I am going to be using her to sell a flip that I have coming to the market in two weeks.

If you ever have a first Saturday of the moth free, try the West DFW REI Group. I know less about this group but plan on going next month. They do charge $15 but it goes to pay for breakfast.

My experience might not be the most accurate based on me only attending 1 meeting for each group but here they are:

DFW REIA - I attended a seminar with a "complimentary" ticket about 7 months ago and the host/owner of the REIA pretty much turned it over to her husband who was pushing for everyone to sign up for the $100-$200ish weekend class where they would actually teach about RE investing. On top of the weekend class to "really" learn a thing or two instead of wasting your valuable time like at the meeting I was attending, they then were pitching their exclusive next tier program where you and 15-or-so others could have the distinct "privilege" of having breakfast/brunch with them and be able to talk with them for the low price of $500...THEN there was their "top dog" program where you and a select few could have the great honor of becoming their  padawan after you took out a 2nd mortgage on you or your parents house to pay $50k for that honor. Of course you would be selling 100's of properties a minute and pulling in a large enough income to single handedly pay off the entire US deficit afterwards so you'd have paid off your (or your parent's) 2nd mortgage and be living in a mansion on one of your estates on the French Riviera and across the globe. Oh, and you could get complimentary food/drink if you showed you left a positive web review of them.

NTAREI - I attended a meeting I paid $25 for as a guest with non-membership. The host was a folksy non-flashy type in stark contrast to those of the DFW REIA -who claim to be personal buddies with Trump btw, take note - and had the guests give their informative presentations. Part of the meeting was allotted to members recounting success stories and not-as-successful, though important, learning experiences - which as you should know by now the DFW REIA owners/hosts have never had to face since they only know how to win. Oh, and there was food/drink available without showing proof of positive internet review, but hey, I paid $25 bucks! :P

I'd like to go back to a NTAREI group meeting but I now work in downtown Fort Worth and I think the meetings are all held in Dallas...

Again, my experiences could be skewed based on the insufficient sample size but my gut is telling me otherwise.  Anyone else have group recommendations for Fort Worth?

Yep, Propelio is awesome as it's centrally located in Grapevine, so you get an even mix of Tarrant and Dallas county connections.  Plus it's open bar until 10 and catered by Chick-Fil-A...ridiculous.

Roddy is now DFW Investors Club and also a great one to attend. My broker (Networth) is always a sponsor so be on the lookout for our table.
