Also, my parents who partnered with me ended up living there for 8 months and paid me rent, so I have two values, one gross profit for the project including their payments as "investments" and another without their payments looking at the actual project costs.

I live in central Iowa by my parents live outside of Bastrop Texas and have started investing in rental properties around them. 

My parents bought a home in san antonio tx.and i've seen in the payment history a FHA disbursement payment that goes diectly to the ESCROW.

My wife and I find ourselves in a position that we have a home valued at 400k.With an outstanding mortgage of 145kCurrently my wife’s parents are on the loan but have no interest in the equity.We are considering a cash out refi and using 100k to put down on another home in the future and then renting this home out.

Before the original owners (parents) passed away they had fallen behind on their mortgage.

I was well versed in dealing with people before becoming a landlord and had seen my  parents dealings with tenants but doing it myself actually opened my eyes to how close to the edge some people live. 

I’m thinking about putting some money aside for college tuition so I can create a future for her unborn child.
