So I used the good will I had with some contractors to put a new roof on, new full exterior paint job, HVAC repair and some other odds and ends; and bill to escrow (so they'd get paid once we close), total about $5500 in work.

and I have encountered something that seemed odd in the process, so I was hoping you guys could shed some light. 

I've found that facebook, craigslist, etc is pretty ineffective at filling these weird gaps as the odds of finding the right group that needs it for that time is slim to none. 

I hate to be the odd man out, but I must disagree with my esteemed colleagues.

It was a very odd interaction and I have never dealt with this company prior or since.

That's an odd criteria to determine the status of a property.

If you can't convince them to leave, you'll need to proceed with an eviction...odds of finding an end-buyer are slim.
