Would recommend finding at least 100 properties for your first batch, should be able to get a deal or at least learn a lot while only having to pay for gas and stamps.

If your area requires that buyers pay transfer stamps, you will also have to pay for your appraisal, inspection fees, homeowners insurance policy, etc...
