I attended a 3 day workshop in NJ and I wasn’t fond of it.

But 2013 is a year that I never got out of my mind and the 200ish workshop after the free workshop is the best 200 I ever spent....he has a 2kand a 75k apprentice.

I read a lot of books, went to workshops, and looked for advice from people who had already been through the problems I was having.

Those guys end up buying marketing programs from one of a few specialized real estate marketing organizations out of either Las Vegas or Salt Lake City; and the result is the cost of their programs goes from $3000 to $40,000, the quality of their information go from a 8 to a 4, and once you’ve entered their program all your contact is with an employee while the guru is out giving seminars, workshops, and making videos.   

Meetup.com and BiggerPockets are two websites and platforms that frequently list local events where you may meet other investors.Attend Workshops or Seminars on Real Estate Investing: Keep an eye out for conferences, seminars, or workshops on real estate investing in the markets you are targeting.

Section 8 can be very profitable if you know what you're doing.I strongly recommend getting some training on section 8 policy in your area - like @Deb S. says, contact your local housing authority for workshops & training on how to work with them.
