I just read an article about new potential tenant protections in Sacramento: https://www.sacbee.com/news/business/real-estate-news/article217675615.htmlThere's not a lot of details about the propsed ordinance, but they say its similar to ones passed in Palo Alto and Santa Barbara.

All of the "best places to live" lists and articles online aren't the perfect fit because they often heavily weigh the local employment market, a factor that will be of little relevance to me when I eventually make this jump.When we moved from up north, we looked at Santa Barbara, La Jolla, Newport Beach and settled on a small town next to Phoenix.

I went last year but only stayed about half the day ( Tony wasn't there) but Robert and Barbara from Shark Tank where there , it was great.  

Interested to hear thoughts on this deal on a 1bd/1.5ba 930 sq ft Spanish colonial condo in sunny Santa Barbara listed for 658k.
