I imagine a situation where you rent an expensive piece of machinery, and then their employee damages it, and now your left trying to collect from their insurance while being on the hook with the rental company.  

Even then, the corporate ladder is usually pursued after promotion with career aspirations in management. 

But residential real estate is as good a way as any I know to have a fair shot at retaining the real value of a piece of this $10M portfolio and ensuring that the income stream is, more or less, allowed to flow with about the same amount of real cash flow for a generation or two.Housing is 30-35% of CPI, so residential real estate is  essentially by definition inflation adjusted.

Thanks for sharing the idea that Fix-It-All absorbs water and can promote rot in the wood it contacts.

I bought a vacant commercial piece of land about a year ago- (seller finance- $100k down/ $200k balance due in Dec 2024.
