The veggie burger she buys runs $8.95/lb plus delivery & when BBQ'd it has the distinct odor of fermented silage (a.k.a. cattle fodder).

Also drywall work is cheap so if you think is questionable tear it out the last thing you want is to finish the rehab and have any odors.  

From living in the constant state of either rain or 100% humidity - potpourri and other odor cover-ups can't hide the mustiness.

During this time, the property should stay vacant.The property should then be checked for odors or staining on walls or sinks etc. and recleaned if necessary.

Neighbors started calling about odor coming from the home.

I doubt you'll be able to institute it mid-lease, but definitely once this skank is gone, and you've spent a ton of time and money getting rid of the odor, you'll see the light.all cash

Are reptiles any more risky to allow as pets in terms of damages or odors?

I grumble a lot about the $8k but it is ultimately a small $ when compared with the appreciation.  

It does work very well at eliminating smoke and mildew odors.  

It has starting squeaking and grumbling, so much that we are afraid if the neighbors will complain of the sound.
