How big are the trees your going to have to take the stumps out of the road way too.Now you can blast through like we build logging roads with a big machine 250 wont cost much if the terrain is favorable and there is not a huge amount of stumps etc.

We've contacted 4 property management companies so far and only 1 of them (VSM) followed through to come out and evaluate the properties.

I see them listed but not always greatA HUD property should evaluated the same as any other deal.

Now I have only logged a few Redwood sites in CA. ( too tough to get permits) and what they allow you to harvest is younger trees as you note.. 

I would evaluate the decision to add a balcony based on economics and the ability to attract good tenants alone.

I've also been investing in the Indianapolis area, more for cash flow and tax benefits (may be able to get REPS status by logging my hours but that's another topic).
