I thought the global warming myth was debunked long ago... 

A subject matter expert is recognized as such (or debunked as such) without anyone vouching for them so I just stay out of it and watch from the sidelines.

Can we just officially 'debunk' that saying?

I saw an article on BP that was trying to "debunk" a buy-and-hold myth. 

This debunks the notion that doing what you love will bring money.It used to be thought that sacrifice and many years of hard work got you there but that isn't very sexy anymore.

Or in case a car salesman suddenly emerges from the bushes without warning, and your puppy's life depends on your ability to quickly debunk his "leasing is better than buying" pitch.Your family consistently complains that you're hearing isn't so good, a problem that you acknowledge having, but somehow you can hear from across a restaurant that someone is thinking of what to do with their paid off triplex.

In a recession things do not move in a straight line.Employment that is easy to debunk. that is a late cycle indicator.
