Hawaii has better weather (best in the world many would say), world class hiking and scenery (often a 5-10 minute drive, as opposed to 1-2 hours from a city in CA), better beaches by far, better surfing, less taxes and less red tape, more landlord friendly in HI (can evict in 3 weeks), better travel hub to Asia, etc.CA and NY residents suffer from the same fate.

Started in South East Asia and worked our way through Europe and now I'm in Buenos Aires waiting for the virus to die down back in my hometown of NYC (not necessarily looking to live in NY/NJ area).

Air traffic from Asia is down by 90% at the moment.

To answer your specific question, I have a few upcoming visitors from Asia.

I live with in Asia so unfortunately I cant do some of the strategies such as house hacking or even be involved with renovations in person.

If everyone knew the next recession would be caused by a global pandemic out of Asia, we'd have been more on the look for it and we would not be in the current predicament.
