I started my learning last May 2012 and discovered there are 100's of ways of making money in real estate, many of them were too much for me because of insufficient funds but then I found out about investing in tax liens and deeds and that's what I'm studying now.

I have had this happen, and the payment was reversed as there was insufficient funds in the tenants account.

Also, review your lease and make sure it has the following clauses going forward: (1) if a payment is returned for insufficient funds the next payment must be by certified funds (2) lists all options for  acceptable forms of payment: check, cashier's check, money order, EFT. (3) After the 2nd payment returned for insufficient funds at any point during the lease, the only form of acceptable payment is cashier's check or money order for the remainder of the lease.

.- Slight tilt/landsliding in the front facing edge due to insufficient column support.This was evidenced by the marble test (rolling at accelerated speed toward the edges) and a few auto-closing doors.

Generally that means a recognized hardship, insufficient liquid assets to bring cash to the closing table (generally, 3 months of living expenses is allowed and not demanded) and insufficient anticipated cash flow to service the mortgage.

Average houses in the area" is a grossly insufficient measure of the value of the subject property, unless you're in a "company town" or other development where the houses are all similar in age, size, condition and features.
