If you do retain them, I would treat them like a new tenant and at a minimum income qualify each adults ability to pay the rent at the new amount, and do a background check.  

To make things worse, this couple was unable to adult and fill out the necessary paper work on time on multiple occasions, pushing back the closing to 8 days. 

He never came back into the country so I ended up doing  the move out walkthrough and move out checklist with his adult children and his son signed off.  

There's some I've kept in touch with 15-20 years, watched their kids grow into fine adults.  

Besides that, at least 3 more adults are living there - the husband's 2 adult brother and mother.

My condo only has the requirement of having no more than 2 unrelated adults per unit.  

Sadly, SIL renewed it for another year, but with MIL not in the house any longer the only adult in the house is one with no steady income and crappy credit history.We can't advise her, she's not listening and my husband can't get a word in on the phone.

If rooming houses are not explicitly permitted (or restricted) in the area, what are the City by-law restrictions around occupancy (i.e. how many unrelated adults per dwelling unit)?
