Institutional accounts are slow to setup, and none of the exchanges really provide a means to contact someone to check on the status of an application or obtain help.You have to establish an institutional exchange account that ties back to the Solo 401(k) in some fashion, either directly in the 401k trust or via a LLC that is wholly owned by the 401(k). 

Can anybody tell me that they have had success with Ameraco or do I have to continue the old fashioned way to build my buyer's list?

@William Hochstedler  the tension was more because he brought two friends, unannounced and not introduced, plus he was dressed in all out drug dealer fashion as if uncloaking from the appearance he had presented to me previously.

I've heard of self-directed IRA's being used for real estate, and I'd like to potentially look into utilizing one now or in the future, or some other type of vehicle that allows me to use my funds in a similar fashion.

Which is why fashion mags advertise perfumes and colognes with scratch 'n sniff stickers!

Since graduation, I have begun learning all I can about real estate with the eventual goal of quitting my job and working for myself (whether in real estate or some other fashion.)I plan to wholesale in my area until I have gained knowledge and experience (and money) to invest in other ways such as fix/flip and buy/hold.
