Cities typically consider anything less than 30 day stays to be temporary lodging, which falls under a different set of rules than long-term rentals (basically running it as a hotel instead of private residence).

Also, what are the up and down sides of running a multifamily as a "transient lodging" vs. a "rooming/boarding house on a short term basis"? 

I guess they decided we really are all nuts up here.The day before showing to my second tenants, I had a bullet lodged in the interior wall of the living room, right through the exterior wall, right through the area where the couch would go and stopped on a stud.
