I've met many of them over the the years and I haven't met any of them who regrets it and plenty of them who would recommended (with the caveat that you need to know what you're doing).As you suggested, there are specific risks that don't exist if you invest domestically and it can mean headaches if you don't know what you're doing (but that's the case in the US too).
