The scouts I train have to give me at least $50 bucks and sign a basic time-commitment of at least 6 months to show they aren't going to disappear after our first webcast training session or they aren't working for the competitors trying to fish for info. 

@David ZhengThere's quite a difference between teaching someone how to fish, and showing them where to fish. 

Soft inquiries (those you don't know about or request) disappear after 30 days (credit companies fishing to send you pre-approval offers, etc).  

Parks and wildlife departments and US fish and wildlife offices also may be aware.

A lot of successful RE investors focus on secondary or tertiary markets to be the big fish in a small pond and stack up deals by being the most knowledgeable person in the area.
