I like their portal, because I feel that I am able to have a good idea of the status in processing of my loans, but I would be intentional about the loan officer I work with. 

Similar to you I was doing well in real estate, had 3 cashflowing properties as well as my primary home and then thought it would be a good idea to flip some early 1900's homes.

I have seen great properties coming out with a great rental rate, but you would know those move quickly so being partner with someone local in DFW is always a good idea.

It sounds intriguing and like it could be a another good source from homes since the MLS has been pretty dry lately/hard to make houses pencil out for flips.Is buying from auctions a good idea?

I have no idea what to expect at this point. 

I am cool with the idea of buying it off market and listing it with a realtor on the MLS at a premium.

For example, you are not allowed to co-mingle personal funds with plan funds or work on the property yourself.I think that cashing out an IRA to buy rentals is not a terrible idea if you can get decent returns in your market.
