After everything was fixed and they listed the unit, apparently they claimed that I was not allowed to have any understanding of who would be renting my home due to potential bias and discrimination (this is the first time I have not been able to view applicants general profile (credit score/occupation(removing any identity markers)), but fine, I let them choose the tenant and so far there hasn't been any issues.

So far I haven't been impressed with their margins, their comps or their high pressure tactics so I'm unlikely to buy through them.

Hey Rowan, It's impressive that you're diving into real estate investing at such a young age.

As with anything sales related, the first impression is the most important.

IMHO it's a mistake to plan on a very specific market and tenant profile.

From an initial impression, this makes the process of long-term investing much more convenient, and the only fee (apart from regular agent/lender commissions) is the property management fee!

I call and first he doesn't answer so I double dial and he's this guy with a heavy accent but his profile says he lives in Texas but from Switzerland. 

I have two 1/1s in a high cost mountain resort area, and they have rented out just fine to the right guest profile.

If you don't do the homework, you will give them the impression you may not be up to doing the homework with real estate investing.
