Depending on your area, you get more bang for your buck if the side you're renting out is a furnished mid-term rental.

We like the South East, as well as mid west markets.  

We rented it as a mid-term rental & it was cash flowing over $700 a month.

If you could work it into a combination STR/MTR and rent mid-term to people working in the area for the down months, the market could work, but aside from that I don't see a ton of value in that market for the prices you have to pay, you basically have to make a years worth of expenses in a 4-5 month span.I don't have specific knowledge of any of the other markets on the list, but based on this one it seems like not much analysis went in to any of these properties and its strictly based on a rough estimates of revenue.

At this point, businesses are doing well with many new contracts and the port improvements (if that actually happens and isn’t just an election year promise)Our long terms have also been mostly on auto pilot, but our STR has performed well since launching mid-July.  

Some investors find that their financing falls through mid-project, or they didn’t budget for unexpected costs.Tip: Always have your financing lined up and know the loan terms inside and out.
