When I get asked what will I do if the market collapses my answer is simple truth, probably raise rents and buy on contract a lot as finance capital dry's up like the desert. 

Unfortunately like most desert cities in the area, the city has made a permanent stay order on any new STR permits.

Word on the street is that the county is issuing a temporary moratorium on new STR applications for the high desert.

The article you posted about the angry landlord who threw non paying tenants in a trunk and dropped them off in the desert seems like it would be an under-reaction in this case.   

Desert Hot Springs, Indio and Palm Springs are other locations you could also look to STR.

I spoke to him about desert water concerns and he believes there is too much existing technology that hasn't been tapped in the US yet.
