CLEAR UP THOSE TITLE ISSUES

Kevin Bowie, an attorney specializing in title issues, will be our speaker for the January 14, 2015, meeting of Coffee Talk. Kevin is the Managing Shareholder for the Bowie Law Firm and a fee attorney for Austin Title. With his 13 years of litigation and transactional experience he has a lot of knowledge to share. BRING YOUR CONTRACTOR QUESTIONS!! How you pick and manage your contractors can make or break any real estate deal. Most of us work hard to find a project that makes financial sense and our projections of a profit hang on how well we execute our renovation of the property. Just wondering, how well the government is going to enforce Dodd-Frank since they let the bankers and mortgage lenders destroy most of the world economy and none of those big boys ever went to jail?  They may decide to take on some mom selling her mobile home on payments and let J P Morgan pass out million dollar bonuses while breaking the law.  Since most of us don't make the big political donations we have to watch our back.  Its been a number of years since that act passed we should not still be waiting for court cases to define what it really means.  Write your congress man!

The subject for our November meeting will be a round table discussion on contracting builds.  I expect that we will hear about both successes and war stories.  The plan is to leave smarter about how to manage our projects.

TO BUILD OR NOT TO BUILD ---- THAT IS THE QUESTION??

The subject for our (South Austin Coffee Talk) will be evaluating lots for a new spec. build. A new spec. build is the logical plan for some lots and areas. What are some of the questions you need to answer in order to decide if it is the right plan for your project? These issues will be the focus of the discussions at our meeting.
