Post: Downturn in Chinese Market Impacting Thoughts of Investing on RE?

I'm not too concerned about the housing market, but I moved all of my 401k money from a generic retirement fund into a stable value fund. I expect a large decrease in the markets.. I will wait until I see a good opportunity and manage the funds myself. If oil gets to $20 per barrel, I may move the 401k into Chevron or another oil stock for a year or so.

Unless there is another wave of pending foreclosures, then housing prices should be fairly stable.

No permits required by the bank. The city may require permits if they see work being done.

Smaller banks will always lend more to the local communities than big banks. Big banks like to gamble with derivatives. What we need is more state and city-owned banks. Did you know that the only public bank in the US is the Bank of North Dakota?

Regarding Dodd-Frank, the CFPB is a good thing. I would keep that, at least.

There are advantages to both strategies. When selling a property, you may get more proceeds than you would from a refinance, since the refinance is limited to a percentage of the value (which is often lower than the market value). But it all depends on what replacement property is available. You would have to compare the cash flows from refinancing and buying vs. selling and buying to see which provides a greater return.

Any more pics? It looks nicer than the homes I pick up for around 20k.

 You can find a lot of these cards with a quick Google search. There are also personal finance forums that have lists of and discussions about these cards. Lots of info..

Concentrated hydrogen peroxide is often used as a fungicide. If bleach is used, it will be necessary to encapsulate the mold with an encapsulating paint.

1. Always wear a respirator. The mold is probably not the toxic kind, but it is possible, and you may or may not be allergic.

2. Remove the source of the water

3. You can spray all of the mold with concentrated hydrogen peroxide (mix sodium percarbonate with water)

4. Check to make sure there isn't mold behind the walls. If not, you could opt to simply kill the mold and paint over it with mold killing paint. If in doubt, remove any porous materials affected.

5. Run a dehumidifier or three to keep the house dry until the removal is complete

I am finishing up a rehab from a moldy house. The mold was from the sewer backing up into the basement. Removing everything from the finished basement took care of most of it. There was some mold upstairs, so I sprayed it and painted over it.

Yes, if they meet the threshold. They are not required when paying a corp for services.

@Shanai Inns

You could use a credit card for the down payment.
