@Dave Stokley also, what are the city/govt rules around STRs? What is it about that neighborhood that makes them successful?

@Dave Stokley we love STRs! We have one now and it makes us a stupid amount of money every month. Blows my mind. Gotta wrap my head around how to manage it from in Oregon.

@James Wise thanks for the link! I've been looking at it for a few days. Just curious if anyone had some out of the box ideas or different insights.

@Federico Gutierrez

Interesting.... then what am I seeing on Zillow? Looks like there are quite a few in C areas and even a couple in some B.

@Matthew Paul

I have heard of people actually doing this!

Hey all!

We are looking at putting some of our cash into out of area investing. We own a duplex in Oregon and have about $100k to pay cash for something out of state. We've been looking at the Cleveland area. We'd like a duplex. And if it goes well we'll 1031 our duplex in Oregon for 1-2 duplexes in Cleveland.

Any zip codes or neighborhoods you'd drop $100k in? On what? Why?

I'm also in Eugene! We should have a meet up!
I'm an insurance agent in Oregon. I would do two umbrellas for you. Not sure what state your in, so I cant really comment further. But for me, in Oregon, I have one Umbrella. I have a Duplex and an ADU. If I get bigger I'd have one just for the rentals. Hope that helps.
