If you are serious about networking on BP, it'll definitely show people you are more serious. When i was searching for partners/mentors, i wouldn't get the time of day from most people, now people are asking for my time offering me lunch and coffee. Its definitely worth every penny.

Hey Mindy, thanks for responding. I wasn't trying to base it on Zillow, that was the only thing my call reps could go off of considering I have never run into this issue before. So i was just throwing that out there. Anyways, I do have a great agent I work with based out of Lombard, but the property i am referring to is in Hanover Park, IL. I'll find out if my agent can help me put a value on this land.

I am not familiar with your area, but I would look into the land a little further. Is there demand for that location? How is it zoned? Could you sell it quickly for a profit? I'm assuming that the current owner has held it for a bit? Be careful or you may inherit this land...Just my thoughts. Best wishes!

Thank you for the pointers Chris!

Hey BP,

Property owner said it's 0.85 acres of empty land. Claimed she paid 165,000 for the land originally but would take the best offer. Zillow claims the land is worth $160,000. Scheduled a meeting for 9am Thursday morning (1/21).

My question is, how do I go about estimated cost for this property. Are there even buyers in the market for vacant land?

This is my first time experiencing this with a motivated seller, so any guidance would be great!

Some people can pull it off, but most people i know do not mix business with friendship or family.

My personal preference as well. I will give advice and help them with their business, but i will never "partner" with them or have any type of joint financial obligation.

Also depends if they are close friends or just a people you went to school with...

Best Regards,

I would definitely consult your attorney. Each state can be a bit different.

@Ned Carey is from Maryland, maybe he can give you better guidance.
