@Brad Jackson I live near Grand Haven and don't own any STRs there but I've heard it depends on where exactly the property is if the city allows you to use it as a STR. Not sure if you've already confirmed that, but if not it may be something to do early in the process.

@Jennaveve St Claire I know this is an old post but I’d be happy to discuss recovery housing with you. I own a duplex that is leased to an organization that has recovery programs and group housing for men and women.

@Jeff Jansen I like to purchase properties that are vacant. This way, we can go in and do any capital improvements, deferred maintenance, and “tenant proof” the units. In my experience, when you buy occupied properties, you never know what you’re getting. Example, we bought a 3-unit a few years ago fully occupied and within two months had to evict two of the three tenants. Where is your duplex?
