Post: Owner getting house back after it's bought in a tax lien?

Hey Florida investors...please remind me what it's called when an owner loses his house in a tax lien and then has a period of time to pay the taxes and get it back.  It's sort of like a "making good on my taxes" allowance. Can it be sold to someone else during that time?  If so, can the owner still reclaim it? Thanks much!

Look at www.housingalerts.com to find where the hot markets are in Florida. You may need a subscription but it's a great site.

@Damaso Bautista @Dylan Salem He doesn't owe his parents because they raised him. If they are holding his college tuition as ransom then shame on them and I would not want to engage with anyone who did this (not saying they did however). Everyone here is right, he's an adult and they can't force him. He has a choice what to do but I would want to know why after such a successful career, his mom's business went bankrupt. Not enough info here to judge or recommend, really.

@Alex Kovalenko Do not accept. There is a reason he refuses and having no references about anything is suspect. Too many res flags. Move on, there are good tenants out there.

Hi everyone, does anyone have experience with eQRP? They set you up with a qualified retirement account in the form of a self-directed 401(k). We are considering this and are curious to know anyone's experience...good? bad? indifferent?  Thanks!

Post: would you buy a duplex from a slumlord?

@Jeromy Jordan I agree with @Dean Wells. We did his option #1 to buy, do light rehab to get it rent-ready, put tenants in right away, and now plan to do more updating next year. The former owner was a slumlord with a slum tenant in place but they are both gone. What went into our decision was the fact that this property is in a PREMIUM location and we were confident of its inherent value.

I also agree with all the other comments and especially the ones to do GOOD inspections - and make sure they are thorough.

@Tchaka Owen Great decision. Reminds me of the book "Don't Eat the Marshmallows" about deferred gratification.

@Loren Souers I'm also interested to hear what people tell you. We are looking in an area that is rough but the buy-in prices are irresistible. Hoping the neighborhood improves (we can help start it by improving the properties we buy there).

@Kevin Ha If it's in the lease and she signed it, then she has agreed to abide by the entire terms of the lease.

@Vina RealThanks for the heads-up!
