So how's liberal economics working in California again? You never answered me from before. You guys aren't having any fiscal problems that the rest of the country may have to bail you out on despite having the income of silicon valley, Hollywood and easily one of the richest supply of natural resources of any state are you?

Want to know how Alaska's doing?

CA has the 6-7th largest economy in the world while Alaska operates like Marvin the martian ("drill baby drill"). Quite a difference.

I'd be curious to see what the economies of CA and NY put together amount to, of the overall US. Not to mention IL and others...

Here comes this
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/01/opinion/01krugman.html?_r=1

Wow, and I was so certain I could pin this mess ONLY on the Big O and Bubba from Arkansas...

But, what's this guy know anyway, I'd tell him to stuff his socialist Nobel someplace, perhaps I should listen to an authority like Cramer instead.

It should all balance out nicely with all the folks leaving the country during the previous regime. Except now, expatriates have nowhere to go considering the rest of the world is pretty much all socialist.

Another computer geek (programmer) here who hopes won't be stuck in a cubicle for the next 20 yrs. Like others have said, it pays well and it's good to have a job during this economy, but still, a change would be nice. Besides, the young generation is coming from behind fast and furious in this field so would be nice to make some room for them.

I second that, I recommend Williams auction. Out of the 3 mentioned here, I feel one gets the best deals with them, clear title and best chance to get their bid approved. Thumbs up!

To cucaloco: it was many others opinion that REDC employs shill bidding, and the fact that prices are inflated, yet a large percentage of properties return to the market only supports that.

Sorry, I must've been confusing. I purchased from Williams auction.

I see most of REDC's properties returning to the market and other forums are pretty convinced they use shill bidding. Their sold prices are also higher which supports that theory (combined with the properties returning to the market).
I like hudsonandmarshall and williamsauction better. I've purchased from the latter and it was quick and painless.

OK, followup silly question in my case: since all the expenses were for last year when I haven't rented yet, supposedly I'll get to deduct some of that this year when I'll get it rented. That being said, do I need to put in my expenses into last year's return even if they don't get deducted, just for the purpose of getting them carried over to this year? Or if not, would it be OK to put expenses in 2009 next year even though the expenses are actually made in 2008? I hope that I didn't confuse someone here more than I am...

I'm not thin skinned, on the contrary, I'm just trying to get over the validity of some arguments. Here's an example" "If you don't like it why don't you go back?"

That just about knocks me over, the overwhelming complexity of it. Is that the ultimate argument or what? Is that even an argument or just an AM radio talking point? If every 3rd generation US citizen (my grandfather was a WWI vet) would leave the country everytime the government does something they disagree with, or an election comes out against their voting record, then I am curious how many people would be inhabiting this country? And better off, how many would give a darn about the way things are going, and try to do something about it, through voting, voicing their opinions of forums or otherwise? Oh but that would be unpatriotic, to question your representatives, right? Or it felt so since 2000 on.

As a side note, I did feel reminiscent of my communist days during the previous 8 years when for example checking out a certain book from the library would be considered a daring activity. So much for that "land of the free", right? But I didn't leave, instead chose to stay here and do something about it (like VOTE).

I could go on and on about other mind boggling arguments (and their logic) I uncovered here but unfortunately I have work to do, and a snow storm to face... maybe later.

I agree. The important thing to keep in mind "is our children learning" something? I know I, as a parent, _are_
