Quote from @David Dachtera:

As usual, I'm the contrarian here.

Folks are talking about how this impacts the owner / landlord. I'm reminded of a line from "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan": after saving the ship and now dying from radiation burns, Spock tells Kirk, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few - or the one."

Misguided as it may be, the local government is telling the owner, "O.k. You're not willing to do the right thing? We'll do it for you."

The REALLY right thing to do? The owner should, as the podcast suggested, sign up for another 55 years. Guaranteed income, no vacancy explosion, no rehab to bring the building up to where it can command market rents.

Quote from @Michael Terry:

My wife's daughter (50) and her two daughter's (20 & 21) are living with us in a two bedroom apartment. The landlord has become aware and wants the "guests" added to the lease if they qualify. They don't and will be evicted. We're thinking of buying a duplex, live in one side and let them live in the other. We're hoping they'll get jobs, buy their own food and pay the utilities (good luck with that!). We would live in the other unit. Given that we are in our 70's not sure it's a good idea, any suggestions?

 Hi Michael,

For your mentioned property target consideration, it can be seen in nearby Monroe the following example online for publicly listed duplex + office, that is estimated after expenses and mortgage payment to be net monthly gain (~$300/month) if you can get a lender mortgage with 15% downpayment owner-occupied 30 years fixed-rate loan to purchase (~$30,658 out-of-pocket from you to buy, including closing costs)

If it looks like the type of case you would want to check further, let me know I will be happy to connect to share more details for this case or others.

Good luck with your search!

Hi Stan,

Regarding what you are looking for, it looks like the publicly listed property at '19 5th St, Stamford, CT 06905' might fit conditions from your posts where you say you want to extract equity cash from the house you have in New Hampshire with plan to acquire one property that has 2 to 6 units in Fairfield County CT where you'll be moving.

If it seems like what you are looking for, let me know I will be happy to connect to share more details for it and some other similar

Good luck with your search!

Hi Steve, little off topic but curious from what source this screenshot came from!

Best,

Hi Kate,

Regarding your question, as per the example of the following public listing below, it can be seen that you can make it work/profitable in a multifamily by just occupying separate units/apartments where each has its own kitchen area and appliances.

Does that correspond to the type of house hacking you wanted to consider?

Steve Olivier

Hi Sharon,

How far are you willing to go? For instance it can be seen for public listing online the following example at 4809 Berridge Ln Dallas TX 75227

If it looks like what you are looking for, let me know I will be happy to connect to share details for this case or others.

Good luck with your search!

Hi Aquila,

Given the description of what you are looking for, it can be seen online some cases like the following example pictured here.

If you think it looks like what you are looking for, let me know and I will be happy to connect to share more details for such cases in MA or other states.

Good luck with your search!
