 That's a great tip @Bruce Woodruff! Can I hire a local Home Inspector to walkthrough the property(ies) that I am considering purchasing before I place an offer so I have an idea of the estimated cost of rehab? 

@Steve Bebek- I have heard of people running- not walking to do STR's there. I know that they have been expanding on this market for the last few years. Seems interesting! I would find an investor friendly real estate agent who can help guide you on your purchase if you do end up making the decision. They can help you find a good and popular area that you may not be aware of as you are not immersed in the market. Good luck!

Going to pile on here. I have an STR biz here in Central Oregon and a few myself. I have seen a dip in some revenue for certain properties. If you go Sunriver make sure it is in the main part of the resort, in Sisters some of that outskirts do very well, but I would be lying if I thought the numbers from 2022 would hold through 2023. I would also suggest going to areas that are not completely saturated. I believe competition will be fierce in resort areas.

Hey @Steve Bebek - If you are just starting out, I would recommend going with Hospitable. It is super user friendly and helps automate a lot of the process like guest communication, notifications to cleaners, syncs calendars and reviews. Let me know if you have any questions and happy to help!

Hi Steve, I’ve posted numerous times about this in the forums since the topic comes up generally about once a month. Check my profile and feel free to message me for more info. I put together a spreadsheet that ranks and compares most of the major solutions on the market and have no stake in any of them.

The challenge in the space if you either pay for a company’s excessive marketing budget or deal with some seriously awful interfaces that are common in the legacy enterprise software space because traditional short term rental managers were large firms that required managing hundreds of rentals at a time and could pay a full-time person to just sit there and learn the software. 

Ownerrez is great but probably not necessary until you scale.
