Cheap suction cup didn't work for the vinyl plank tiles, but the $30 double suction worked good.  Seams aren't perfect but are not bad now, looks like it will end up being a regular maintenance task but at least I don't have to pull up the baseboards anymore!

Hmmm that sounds even easier, I see home depot has a suction cup for 10 bucks, I'll give that a try first, thanks!

Ooo interesting idea @Bob H., I'm going to build one and try it out! If that saves the time removing the baseboards that would be great :)

Hi @Erik B. :)

The flooring was installed about 4 years ago, but actually started separating pretty shortly after install. It was installed in a house that is over 100 years old and the subfloor wasn't perfectly level, but not horrible.

I'm seeing seems open up near the bottom of the stairs/entrance and in living room area, I guess mainly the higher traffic areas.  Probably only about 5% of the seems but it's enough to make the floor look not great.

I think the vinyl plank flooring was decent quality as it was quite a bit more expensive than the laminate I was looking at initially, but maybe I could have bought even more expensive vinyl.  Not really sure on that front, that could be the issue.

Hi Tyler,

I'd recommend setting some specific timelines/dates for when you start evictions/late payment processes and don't deviate from these dates at all regardless of tenant.  I'd let tenants know ahead of time what your process is as well.

Myself I still struggle with this as I continually give tenants breaks/extensions, but really trying to stop as I find I usually get left on the hook for a larger amount eventually and pretty much always leads to hundreds of extra messages/excuses with tenants.

I've installed vinyl plank flooring in a rental, I really like it but it keeps separating (I helped install this with someone who has installed alot of flooring previously but never the vinyl plank type, so maybe we did something incorrectly).

Has anyone else had this problem, I've removed the baseboards and tapped it back together once already but it continues to separate, not really sure what to do, it looks great and holds up super well, except for the gaps!  Anyone have suggestions or encountered this problem??

Post: Use longer warranty shingles?

I'm having new shingles put on a duplex and the roofer has two options:

1) BP Mystique 42 Limited Lifetime Warranty Shingles  (base shingles)

2) Malarkey Vista 40 yr Warrant Shingles (+$950 upgrade)

Roofer figures upgrading from base shingles will extend shingle life from about 20/25 to 35/40 years.  I'm leaning towards using the upgraded shingles but curious to hear others thoughts, thanks!

Same thing is happening with my android feed (I use antennapod), the feed hasn't updated since episode 314.

Ya, kinda pains me to destroy 4 perfectly good steps but I'd have to rent some sort of equipment to move them and then I imagine I'd be faced with the exact same problem in 10 years if I put them back in place.

I've got a rental that has some grade issues on the outside and I am going to add soil to help with drainage away from the house.  The problem is there are 4 heavy concrete steps, they are in good condition but I am unsure what to do with them as they are not easily moved and the soil has sunk more around them as compared to the rest of the house.

I'm thinking of just smashing them up, adding soil around foundation and then putting wooden steps in place as they won't put as much weight on the new soil and can easily be moved if I need to add more soil for drainage.

Anyone encountered this issue? Thoughts?
