"Mike, what is that about attacking the "Socialists" all the time. Is there anything more socialistic then the Section 8 program? And don't you enjoy that program? You cannot have it both ways.
(Oh no,I just hijacked the thread again.... "

That's right, There is nothing much more socialistic than this and I hold to my principles and will not accept it for rent payment.

"That is why many libertarians believe that the federal government lost its original and only role. To defend the union from foreign attack, everything else should have left to the state."

I believe this too.

Sorry Eddie, but if you take that view, then America is not unique at all as there have been several "association" of states including the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the union of the twelve brothers of Israel.

What is different is that it was formed as a Republic and not a democracy.

On the other hand, Jawsette, Republic is not a unique form of government either. From the People's republic of China, to more democratic one The republic of Austria. And by the way, the people of Israel was a consortium of twelve tribes who, according to the old testament were the ancestors of those 12 brothers.

A Republic is not a unique form of government. Rome was a republic. It was set up much the same as the US is/was and I believe we're following the same pattern. Below is a link to a video about government systems that I post on a number of sites:

Unlimited Power: Anthony Robins
Not a real estate book either but a self improvement book. It focuses on how what you think influences how your surroundings are impacted. Sort of a Think and Grow Rich put to practice.

The other is Titan, an unbiased biography of John D. Rockefeller's life.

But if the news is negative (which, it kind of is), why counteract that? .

My apologies again if I sound argumentative. I'm just fascinated by marketing and the objective of it.

But why make it worse than it has to be? I mean, if I catch my pink toe on a piece of furniture, I'm not going to slam it with a hammer to make it better.

I've been on here for a couple of years now. I've had people start arguments with me when I wasn't even disagreeing with them. Or shall I call them debates. I think its become a source of enjoyment for most of us on here. No harm meant and none taken

I haven't had too much trouble getting them to mail me a key. If they are reluctant to send it directly to me, I've had them mail it to a title company.

Sure they do, or, maybe more accurately, they have in the past. This recession isn't anything like any recession that any of us has seen. I think we can agree on that.

Yes, I agree with you on that and for fear of turning this into a political discussion and having Josh move this thread lol!, I won't mention that I feel that that's because there's been more government interference lol!

But, I did like the billboards because it instills a more positive influence on the public than all the negative, scary press. I feel we need something to counteract that. It's scaring the hell out of people and even the one's with jobs and money won't spend and its making the economy even worse.

Yeah, so what if it has caused you to lose your house, job or marriage? Don't worry about it! It will be better someday. Maybe that day is 4 years away.

"This will end long before those who caused it are paroled."

Does that statement apply to Penny Pritzker?

And I'm in no way down playing that plight. Its painful. But what you do is when its over you pick yourself up, brush yourself off and go at it again. Back in 2001, I worked as an engineer for a semiconductor company. After 9/11 it seems nearly all of them closed their doors. I was out of work and could not find any. My entire family walked out on me, I lost nearly everything I had worked my entire life for. When the clouds cleared, I went back to work, built my own business and I'm now in a committed relationship with a man who is more what I wanted than the one I had before. It is not the end of the world and life goes on.

Yeah, I noticed I can post some very dire or terrible news on here and I will get more than 70 posts following it lol! Looks like to me this guy is probably wasting his time with those billboards. Let's face it, Americans just want something to b*tch about.

With all I know it seems that both sides reacted hastingly and the distinguished professor was over sensitive. However, he came from a long flight from China, found out that he couldn't get to his own house. Tired and frustrated he was obviously antsy but again, this is my impression with knowing only what was in the news.

It seems from what I read on the Associated Press (heaven forbid let me give a reputable source here) that the black officer who accompanied him states he acted appropriately in his actions. The accompanying officer stated that this upstanding scholar became belligerent and and abusive to the officer.

Yeah, why is it we never hear anything about the white side of his family? Is he ashamed of it?

The affirmative action BS hasn't made anything equal in this country. It has only served to discriminate against others was proven by Sotomayor; my 3rd runner up for biggest racist in this country.
