Hey BP community, So i'm reading up on some of BP's material for newbs and I wanted to know the usefulness of a RE License for california. In my mind, a RE lic. would help by gaining access to the MLS, but doesn't one need their license hung with a broker? Are there any other advantages to having a RE Lic. other than this?

Thanks Eric Hettena and Shari Posey for your insights! Yes, You do make a point about the length of the courses at a community college. I could be using that time for another class I need for my 4 year degree. I do plan to use it for investment purposes. Thanks again for you help.

Hello, So I'm reading up and all the new investor material BP has and I love it. One thing I am going to do is get my RE license. However, i'm to far into the semester in order to register at the local community colleges (Most CC's don't offer RE couses in the summer) Can anyone recommend any Real Estate Schools in the SoCal area. I would love to start ASAP. Thanks again everyone

Brian Burke....But I guess it would be better then to be a broker than a salesperson. If I decided to be a salesperson do I need to have my license hung with a broker to get access to the MLS?

Has anyone ever thought of getting a Real Estate License to facilitate their buying? Would it be a good idea? Its sounds like a great idea, getting access to the MLS. What are your thoughts?

Tom S., That's what I had in mind but I'm not sure if the bank would accept that as stable income.

Thanks, Bill Gulley and James Vermillion for your insight. If I decide to go back to school what is the best way to gain experience with people and analysis skills? By the way I was a bit suprised at your response. I was expecting different answers such as construction skill etc.

Hello, I'm currently undecided as to continue school or just start investing? I had a deal fall through after my work hours unexpectedly reduced. Part of me wants to go back to school full time and finish my degree in Business admin in Real Estate to become a broker. Another part of me wants to find another job that will give me a full time positon that way I can buy my own property and get started. But the real question is, what college class and other skills are necessary to be a real estate investor?

I'm 21 and have been working for the last two years at FedEx Ground full time. I was on the verge of buying my first home (142k) however my hours have been reduced and now I am a part-time worker. My Parents are Investors (We're nothing super big just mom and pop investors) and I've been thinking, If I decide to be an "official" employee of theirs would there be any problems in applying for a loan?

thanks for your reply
