Well the software is old, the Macbook Pro is 2015, so getting a new one won't be an option. But thanks for the input

I've been out of the MS office game for a long time.  I think the office on my Mac is 2008.  I'm getting confused by looking at all the different types of version they have.  I'm looking for the basic Word, Excel, Powerpoint version that only I need and not anyone else.  Are there non-subscription versions?  Any help with the specific name of this version thanks

@Dave Holland Out of curiosity, will the private lender (aka my parents) be under scrutiny from the IRS to report what I pay them as income?  They aren't making anything extra since I'm just really paying off the the principle and interest of what I am borrowing.  It's a small amount, roughly $235/mo that I transfer to them.

Hypothetical if I were to purchase a property thru a SDIRA, who owns it? Is it under my name or can a legal entity be formed to own it? Also, if someone were to sue in relation to that property, since it's retirement is that asset still protected like other retirement accounts are protected?

@Dave Holland Thanks for the followup.  Next thing I need to figure out is what document requirements are needed to claim that interest.

@Rich Baer Thanks, I wasn't sure if there is some sort of double dipping there since interest would be claimed twice, once by two different parties

FYI: I'm still out hunting for a good CPA, but I wanted to know something. A portion of my down payment for my MF rental came from private money. Can I deduct the cost of interest that I am paying towards that private money lender? I know that their source of money came from a home equity line of credit, so I am basically paying that back for them. Also, I'm sure they will be claiming the interest on their HELOC with their personal taxes. Any thoughts? Thanks

Kind of interesting to randomly come across my intro post from last year and read about what I was thinking at the time. There are thousands of intro post and I wonder sometimes what happens to some of these people. I went from no REI experience, looking to start researching/networking and planning on doing SF to now owning a positive cashflow 4-plex and researching how to save as much income as possible through proper tax planning. Cheers to everyone who provide such a great welcoming to all newcomers.
