Just a quick plug for the Des Moines REI meet up. It's the third Thursday of every month at Caribou Coffee on Ingersoll. Starts about 5.30-6pm and goes to about 8pm. It's arrive when you can.

I'm a newbie, went to my first met up last month. Great group, very welcoming. Well definitely be at the next meet. 

Thanks for that. I can easily wait 6 months. That's just another 4 months. I paid 45k for the house and it should appraise at 75k after spending $10k on it.

I'm not in your area but I've been quoted $900 and $1050 for guttering on an 1100sqft house with a single car garage. 

Welcome. Fellow Brit here. Lived in California for 5 years in Redondo Beach. Been in Iowa for 8 years now. Do you keep up with the rules around investment properties back home? It's brutal. I was an accidental landlord when I first moved here. Sold up after 6 months. Never again. It's so different here I'm amazed. 

 Thanks Jeff. It's exciting and exhausting at the same time. I purchased a home for myself last week too. Feels like I'm a contractor for the rental and a laborer in my own house with a full time job in addition. Good times!
