Happy New Years Everyone,

Currently, the homes I own are in Marion County IN and Hamilton County IN.  The property taxes are doubled when you are a landlord or do not live in the home.  If I were to make the home a land transfer contract, does this still apply?  Will they be continued to be doubled, or can we have that changed.

Thank you in advance.

John, your quick reply is much appreciated.  i will look into it.  Another dumb question, how about Insurance and property taxes.  Do i have to pay insurance on the home (Landlords insurance).  As for property taxes i am sure they can pay or I can keep it in escrow

I am renting a home that has a mortgage.  The tenant who is renting from me would like to put a down payment and transfer from tenant to Land Transfer contract.  My question is, can I keep the mortgage on the home while in a land transfer?  I am sure I have to ask the mortgage company what their rules are, but I wanted to hear the thoughts from BP community.

Thank you in advance.

A Tenant I have rented one of my rental properties to for the past two (2) years is leaving.  Its unfortunate, as he is one of the best tenants I have had.  He asked me if I knew of anyone that had a vacancy for a one bedroom possibly furnished apartment in the Indianapolis IN (North side) area.  Anything between 600 to 800 per month.  If there are any landlords out there that have a one bedroom vacant, and want an awesome clean tenant, please let me know.

Thank you

I wanted to say thanks for the help and information.  I had a feeling it was better to have a mortgage on the rental in the long run.  Once again the help is appreciated.

Hello Everyone and happy new years.

Currently, I am looking for another rental.  I believe I found one that I would like to put an offer.  I know that it is much easier to get a primary mortgage as opposed to an investors mortgage as the rates, appraisals, fees...etc are cheaper in general.  My question is, if one was to pay cash for the rental, but keep a mortgage on their primary residence, what advantages are there when it comes to tax write offs.  I know that I can write off my mortgage interest in my primary residence, however, does it make more sense to write it off the income a landlord would make on investment properties?  Basically I am looking at the long run instead of the short term pain of getting an investors mortgage.

Your help is great appreciated in advanced.
