@Thomas Thai - I haven’t made any real progress. I’ve mainly been casually researching builders, designs, and looking for land.

I invest in Syracuse. It’s a tough game. You need a thick skin. Everything Ray Lin said is right. There are diamonds, but there’s a lot of rough. A ton of rough.

Look into shipping container houses. You can make them look rustic, if you like.

Here you go... from the Syracuse City Website.... owner is responsible: "Repair and upkeep of sidewalks are the responsibility of each property owner. Sidewalk repairs must be paid for by the owner."  see the link for the rest of the details:

I don't know Albany, but the deals in Syracuse are drying up - presumably because out-of-towners (no offense - I grew up there, but am now an out-of towner myself) are coming in buying properties at too-high prices. And according to a Syracuse RE lawyer I know, they run for the hills when they realize what they have gotten themselves into. Syracuse has/had some good opportunities, but the market is not for the faint of heart.

Is anyone familiar with apps or websites that automatically generate comps (comparable listings) for houses? My problem is time. It can take an agent a few days to come up with comps and the "report" is not the most user friendly (old school PDF that is clunky and not built for easy, fast analysis. I need a quick read so that I can make a fast, informed decision.

With all the MLS (and other) data on home sales, it should be pretty straight-forward to make an app or website that allows you to input a few data points about your target house and get comps instantly.

Any recommendations or ideas are greatly appreciated.

PS - I am a buy and hold investor in the Syracuse, NY area. Happy to connect with others.

Thanks!

Patrick

Dan Sisto is a wholesaler.  His company is HS Property Funds. He is here on BP. I also have a recommendation for a great PM and a contractor. Shoot me a DM for those.

Are you using online lenders for mortgages? If so, what are your go-to resources?  And why?
