@Chris Adams I stand corrected. MileIQ does have a desktop/online interface that actually syncs to a cloud in real time. Quite handy. It just doesn't have an option for odometer readings. However according to the IRS website you don't need them anyway. You just need the odometer reading at the start and end of the year.

@Bryan N. I'm finding that most of these apps all have trial periods so after that you have to pay, but then you have full unlimited access to all the features. I'd take a look at the Trip Log one and make sure to try out the web based app that shows everything in a lot of detail. If you're a car person you can also install an OBD device and it automatically fetches your odometer reading and adds it to the report.

I'm open to some other suggestions to trial also.

Thanks guys I'm trialling Trip Log at the moment and it seems very thorough and easy to use.

@Chris Adams I also tried MileIQ and it worked alright but it didn't seem to have any desktop integration unless I'm wrong? It also seemed to have a lot of fake reviewers on the iTunes store which I'm not a fan of.

@Bryan N. that's what I've always done too, but I'm trying to streamline and automate as much as I can. I'm very much a tech orientated worker so finding tools that help me do less of the mundane boring paperwork is something I enjoy.

Can anyone recommend any great iPhone apps for logging business car miles?

@Wendell De Guzman yes I did hear your podcast. Such a bad experience for you, but definitely a rise from the ashes story at the same time. Congrats on bouncing back!

I guess I was just after some different experiences as I'm sure there are thousands of ways you can lose money in real estate and new investors (plus i'm sure some experienced ones) would appreciate hearing.

@Karen Margrave I know this has been bought up many times in the past, but do you see the pros outweighing the cons for getting a license in CA?

One of the reasons for getting my license is because time and time again you hear how investors would love to work with investor friendly agents.

Another reason, apart form the MLS access, is the option of potentially wholesaling properties for sellers that don't want to go through the traditional means. Is this legal though? I guess it also won't be possible during the first 2-3 years while I'm registered with a broker?

And another reason is if I was to come across a great property and then flip it myself, while getting the commission as the buying agent and then saving on the selling commission.

Thanks @Daniel K Adderly What online course did you use and would you recommend it if I can get it here in CA?

So I'm wanting to get my real estate license and I've read varying opinions as to whether I should take the classes online or the conventional way.

I currently work as a freelance cameraman/editor so my schedule is flexible, but I can't afford locking into a month long course without any income coming in.

Are the online courses worth it for their flexibility or are they too boring and hard to focus?

And if you have taken any classes in the Los Angles area if you could provide the name of the class if you liked it that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
