woah this just sparked some previous interests of mine. I have always been curious if restaurant owners rent out or purchase their properties that the businesses are on. It would make sense to if you feel it is going to be a success and even if it doesnt, that is potential real estate you could rent out correct?

I have been interested in commercial real estate, but have been cautious and skeptical due to the long breaks in between potential clients that I read about.

that makes a lot of sense actually. Most people are going to try and move into a nice house, and if they can't afford it they will rent. I am not sure if you are familiar with the Cupertino school district, but that area has two school's Lynbrook High, and Monta Vista, and those houses are going for a pretty penny. Even if you got a bad house and did not flip, but re modeled and made its value jump and then rented it I could see that being very profitable, that land is what is important, because those parents want to give their children the greatest opportunity. De Anza College is within a 20 minute drive from those schools, less than 5 from monta Vista, and you have San Jose State and Stanford both within 30 minutes.

So yes, it makes sense that no the problem is not that the houses are expensive, it is getting a loan without a ridiculous interest rate on it.

Very interesting.

Tom Goans

"Do you want some people to be concerned or thinking about your tattoos? Or, would you rather they focus on the possibilities of doing business with you and what you have to offer?

Image consultants recommend you never venture into public without being professionally presentable. You never know whom you will see or meet."

I appreciate the input. I know how to wear my hair presentably, and I totally understand the dressing well, which I see as a standard in any form of business where you would like to be taken seriously.
The concern is there because I have been called out by higher up's in the military that have a more 'old school' way of thinking. And it was definitely negatively.

Thanks guys. I have been reading up and there will definitely be some solid agreements in the contracts. One for sure will be everyone pitching in for a monthly or bi monthly mandatory cleaning lady no matter how tidy the house is. I'll keep it clean but I hate dusting.

Thanks for the warm welcomes guys

I think these guys all have great input on it. It's a legal right, and if the person is not a shady individual its just extra security for your investment. But I definitely agree with Matt Devincenzo, telling the other tenants is unneeded, and could cause problems. If you allow dogs, or pit-bulls at that, are you going to tell the rest of the tenants, that someone has a pit?

Oh well that will for sure be my plan to provide a great interaction, and hopefully people can see right past it. Being prior military some times you can get called out for your tattoos and judged, and I notice people starring in public. it does not bother me, it actually can make me laugh, but none the less, it can have an effect early in the game. the goal is to get wealthy enough that I dont need to worry what someone thinks, and if they do not like the tattoos, then we dont need to do business.
thanks for your input.

I am very new to REI and even newer to bigger pockets, but I am curious of people's views.

I have a neck tattoo that I not so intelligently got at a younger age, and while I do plan to get it removed I am curious of people's opinions on tattoos, obviously the ones visible in the workplace. Stories about deals gone wrong, or even better gone smoothly dealing with or being the proud owner of some permanent art would be awesome. I do not think tattoos are a definition of a persons character, however even as an owner of body art it is still quite hard to not take a second look and say "hmmm". and I could only imagine how a middle aged couple would feel discussing the sale of their house with someone of that image if it is not something normal for them to see.
