Sorry to hear the news Marc. Hopefully this starts a great new chapter in your life through REI. Might be sooner than you thought but could be a blessing in disguise. Hoping for the best.

Hi Travis,

I joined Traction REIA over the summer. It has both elements. The meetings are divided up into networking, local market updates, and whichever topic of the night is. Usually it is a lead in for a whole day Saturday class that weekend with a guest speaker that you have to pay for. Usually they are not very expensive (~$50). If you are not a member and would like to go to a meeting it is $20. If you sign up for membership they'll credit that $20 towards membership. I pay $200 for the year.

IMHO I would try and network here as best you can first, then try Traction. They definitely have benefits, especially if you have a property to sell they have time devoted to investors looking to sell their properties but unless you're an extremely outgoing person it can be a bit intimidating because so many people go to the meetings.

Thanks everyone for the support! @Account Closed I belong to Traction REIA. Look in your inbox I sent some info. @Alison M. yeah multi-families are rare in loudoun county, townhouses all around! Hard to diversify on one property, but alas this is a robust market up here :)

Thanks @Brandon Turner and @Aaron Mazzrillo for the greetings! I will definitely be checking those podcasts out.

You make a good point Aaron about owning rental properties. I will have to look into that. Unfortunately in my area there are not a lot of multi-units unless I go further into DC. I will have to reevaluate my thoughts on renters and focus on wholesaling for now. Thanks again!

Good Evening BP!

I am new to the real estate investing universe and started this account after months of browsing to finally take action and "get my feet wet." I am also a member of my local REIA that has brought some great info as well. In addition to continuing my education reading and posting on BP, I would like to network with any local members and possibly see what you do first hand.

My long term goal is to create a business owning and renting properties but first I would like to start out wholesaling and gaining experience.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Regards,

Brian
