Post: Large Multi Owner Info

Hi,

I'm looking for advice on how to find the owner info on large multis (100+ units). I'm sure the leasing agent doesn't just hand it out.

Thanks

@Dan Heuschele

What's Prop 13?

@Dan Mcguire

No.

I just always wondered how it isn't more common.

@Lucia Rushton

Wow. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you eventually get your money back. Would you mind sharing your story?

I'd recommend checking out investopedia.com if you haven't already. You'll find everything you need to know on there. Once you learn a new term, head to your favorite real estate listing site, find a house on the market and practice putting in the numbers.

Thanks!

Hi Everyone,

What do people recommend is the best way to learn RE math such as cap rate ROI etc?

I don't just mean the definitions but exercises to get comfortable making the calculations?

Thanks!

@Charles Carillo

What do you mean by certified funds?

From buying turnkey investments that turn out to be shacks to sending thousands of dollars in loan fees to a lender that evaporates. Its like a cruise ship. Most good, some bad.

So what's the best way to protect yourself? I hear stories how people bought out of state and relied on their agent for everything and never even visited the property, it sounds like you're just begging for someone to rip you off.

Hi,

Firstly I'd like to thank the whole BP community for making a place with such great resources for RE rookies and vets.

But I have been wondering, has anyone gotten burned by another forum member? Obviously I wouldn't blindly trust someone just because they're a BP member but as a rookie it's definitely easier for someone to pull the wool over my eyes than someone with more experience. Especially when it comes to out of state investments. Am I just being paranoid?

@Russell Brazil

If redfin messes up the listings on multis where would you recommend looking for accurate listings of small multis?
