Getting burned on BP?

Nathan Weber
Posted

Hi,

Firstly I'd like to thank the whole BP community for making a place with such great resources for RE rookies and vets.

But I have been wondering, has anyone gotten burned by another forum member? Obviously I wouldn't blindly trust someone just because they're a BP member but as a rookie it's definitely easier for someone to pull the wool over my eyes than someone with more experience. Especially when it comes to out of state investments. Am I just being paranoid?

Yes, it has happened. Is it common? No, but this is not Utopia. The vast majority of posters are good people just looking to talk about real estate often in the only place they really can.

Chances are that posters who don't try to buy or sell anything from/to you are probably honest straight shooters. That said, always trust but verify when making financial decisions.
