That was my thought as well Ned, but I figured other people may have come across the same issue and wanted other inputs. Thanks!

@Andrew Stephens I'm looking I  Baltimore City, you?

not renting to the government as a tenant directly.

@Cody L, let me clarify.  Basically I'm asking if I work for the Feds, and then i rent to Section 8, is it "illegal" because I get paid by the government, and also accept rent from a government subsidised renter?

Sup BP!

A friend of mine was taking a training and knows that I have an interest in renting to voucher tenants. During their course they came across some information that sounds like, "no person can accept two forms of income from the federal government" and therefore, "can't contract with voucher tenants as a federal employee".

Has anyone else come across this? Any issues or is there a loophole that I can look into?

Thanks in advance!

Michael

you could go for a private/bridge loan and then refinance with another broker. I may have a couple references you could use, I'm not at the commercial level yet so I don't know all the nuances to a commercial deal, but private can get you the funds you need fast to pay the sellers and buy the time you need. Especially if you have some comps/appraisals done. PM me and I can pass some info along.

Since you're north of Baltimore and close to PA, have you looked at the Pittsburgh Market to invest? I'm not an expert but I saw a prominent investor list it as a city they're targeting now.

Post: Property Underwater Near Canton, OH can an investor help owner?

BP! What's Up!

I was talking to a friend at work who owns her old house in Massillon, OH (near Canton, OH) and converted it into a rental. To make a long story short, she lives in the DC area, has family back in Ohio but had a property manager to oversee the property. The renters took horrible care of the property and the property manager never checked on the property. The home has been vacant over a year and the owner can't afford to fix it up or make payments. Lawyer advised her to stop making payments so the bank will negotiate with her. Now she's underwater, credits taken a hit, with an uninhabitable property in need of repair.

So I saw an opportunity for an investor to come in and solve a problem...which brings me here. Any advice I can pass on? Better yet is there anyone who'd be interested in purchasing the property and maybe saving my co-worker from a foreclosure and completely ruining her credit?

I can PM you the address and contact number if interested. I'm not soliciting, but I'd like to help my friend out and if I can help you get a deal then everyone wins. She just wants to be rid of the headache and save herself in some way.

Thanks in advance

-Michael
